Each year "The Worlds Largest Brat Fest" is held on Willow Island, at the Alliant Energy Center. We have developed this event over the years by serving up really good eats, combined with outstanding customer service, and ok, the brats are pretty cheap too. The event is held each Memorial weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The hours that we serve brats are from Friday - Sunday 10am for breakfast to 9pm and Monday 10am for breakfast to 6pm when we close. Volunteers work from 9:00am to 9:30pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and 9:00am to 8pm on Monday.
We select our non profit groups and charities based on the following criteria: every one that works must carry a smile, they all must have a true love of brats or the Wisconsin heritage surrounding our brats, and they all must want to work really, really hard. The money that is raised must go directly to the groups or charities for the purpose of funding their on going needs. We prefer groups that have broad community appeal. All volunteers are to be at least 14 years of age, and no one under the age of 18 may work on the grills or use sharp objects.
The groups will earn a minimum of $8 an hour. After all the years of running the fest, we have determined that the above rate represents all the proceeds that are generated at the fest, after all the expenses. We don't have a minimum of expected volunteers for each group, just the more people you supply, the more your charity/ non-profit group can earn. All volunteers will be given a Brat Fest T-shirt and a coupon for one (1) free brat. Additional brats or hotdogs must be paid for. If you have volunteered in the past, we ask you to bring and wear your old T-shirt, this will help keep the Fest costs down.
